Our approach integrates humanistic, somatic, and cognitive therapies, including EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Somatic Experiencing (SE), Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy. We serve clients in Vancouver and Port Moody, as well as virtually across BC and other Canadian provinces.

Celeste Cai (She/Her) — Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC), EMDR Certified Therapist, Founder
Born and raised in Singapore, Celeste practiced as a Registered Psychologist across school, medical, and community settings before founding Resting Tree Counselling.
She brings a genuine curiosity for different worldviews and a deep respect for the many ways people make meaning of their lives. Her greatest passion lies in walking alongside adults and women navigating complex trauma, attachment wounds, stress, anxiety, and mood-related challenges.
Her approach is compassion-focused and mindfulness-based, drawing on EMDR, IFS, AEDP, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, ACT, and DBT.

Sho Sho O (She/Her) — Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC), Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC), EMDR Certified Therapist, Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS) Candidate, Co-Owner
Originally from Hong Kong, Sho provides counselling and supervision in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin.
Her path was shaped by witnessing a family member’s struggle with schizophrenia and her own experiences with anxiety and relational trauma. She studies how the brain, body, and nervous system respond to trauma—impacting physical health, behaviour, and our ability to cope with stress.
She specializes in EMDR, IFS, and Somatic Experiencing, grounded in polyvagal theory, CBT, and ACT. She also offers clinical supervision informed by developmental, feminist, and trauma-informed models.

Heiin Lim (She/Her) — Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC)
Heiin is a bilingual therapist providing counselling in English and Korean.
Her path to becoming a counsellor grew from her own journey through a challenging period marked by low self-confidence and a loss of direction. Through training and self-discovery, she learned to accept and befriend herself, building a trust that now guides her work with clients facing similar struggles.
She draws from Emotionally Focused Therapy, CBT, and Narrative Therapy, tailoring her approach to each client’s unique needs and actively seeking feedback to ensure therapy resonates and creates meaningful impact.
Vandana Advani (She/Her) — Practicum Student Counsellor
Vandana is a South Asian immigrant counsellor with over 15 years of experience as a special education teacher and teacher-librarian.
Currently completing her M.Ed in School Counselling, she offers low-cost counselling services under the clinical supervision of Sho Sho O. Her work is grounded in trauma-informed, relationship-based practice, integrating somatic approaches, cognitive therapies, and narrative therapy.
Vandana is fluent in English, Hindi, Punjabi, and Sindhi.
Clinical Supervision and Consultation
We also offer clinical supervision and consultation for therapists and counsellors at various stages of their professional journey. Sho provides supervision tailored to the supervisee’s developmental stage, clinical goals, and learning needs. Her approach integrates developmental supervision models, feminist and socially responsive lenses, attachment theory, polyvagal-informed care, EMDR, and somatic frameworks. Sessions emphasize collaboration, reflexivity, power awareness, cultural humility, and attention to the systemic and sociocultural factors that impact both clinical work and the supervisory relationship.
Low-Cost Counselling
We believe financial barriers should not prevent access to quality mental health care. We offer low-cost counselling sessions ($25–$30) with our practicum student counsellor, Vandana, who works under the clinical supervision of Sho. We also hold a limited number of reduced-cost slots for those experiencing financial hardship, assessed on a case-by-case basis.
