Bio: Hi, I’m Souz. I congratulate you on taking this step of finding a therapist, and I encourage you to be extremely picky, book lots of consults and trust your gut! Therapy is only as effective as the trust you have with your therapist. As for myself, I am a neurodivergent person and first-generation immigrant, and approach therapy from a multicultural, trauma-informed lens. You can expect a safe space that promotes curiosity, authenticity, and empowerment. I named my practice ICYOH Counselling as a reminder that, when I am struggling, there are tools that are more effective to turn to Instead of Cutting Your Own Hair. Bangs have never (yet) cured my depression, or PTSD, or chronic chaos… but picking up a pair of scissors and making a wild, visceral decision that would change something immediately provided a momentary feeling of release from the pressures of existing. The problem is that ‘wherever we go, there we will be’, just maybe with an aggressively-shaggy bob… my goal as a therapist is to support you in developing the self-understanding, trust, and empowerment to create a relationship with yourself that you cherish. That way, when you are faced with yourself, you will receive your reflection with compassion and. joy. Together we can build tangible tools and practices to better manage life’s challenges while unpacking the traumatic, emotional and existential burdens that can weigh us down. I work with couples, families and youth 13+, with a focus on navigating neurodivergence, queer, and intercultural challenges in relationships. I speak English and conversational Farsi, and provide sessions in both languages.
