Bio: Hello, my name is Nancy Arshak, and I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC #23023) with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC). I’m so glad you’re here, and that you’ve taken the time to learn more about me and the work I hold so dearly.

Firstly, I want to acknowledge the courage it takes to begin the healing journey. I reside in Vancouver, B.C., on the lands of the Squamish, Musqueam, and Tsleil-Waututh First Nations. From my own experience, I know how overwhelming and vulnerable this step can feel, especially for those of us who have had to navigate spaces that were never built with us in mind. Thank you for being here, and for even considering inviting me into this process with you. It is a responsibility I hold with care and respect.

I am a Palestinian woman, and I carry this identity with tenderness, pride, and an unshakeable connection to my people’s history, resilience, and longing for freedom. As a BIPOC counsellor, I understand deeply what it means to move through the world in a body that has been racialized, to carry generational memory, and to seek healing in systems that have often failed us.

My journey has also brought me into meaningful work alongside Indigenous Peoples, walking together in understanding the shared struggle for land, life, dignity, and self-determination. These relationships have shaped me profoundly, teaching me about solidarity, humility, and the sacred work of collective healing. I believe that our liberation is intertwined, and I bring this understanding into every therapeutic space I hold.

I hold a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology and have been working in the helping profession for over 20 years. My undergraduate background is in Child and Youth Care Counselling, and my experience includes pastoring, crisis counselling for children and young adults, and providing therapy in a Christian residential counselling home for women. I am also a former pastor, and I know firsthand the beauty and the complexity of faith, the ways it can hold us and the ways it can wound us. For those seeking biblical or faith-based Christian counselling, I offer the option to integrate faith into our work together, always at your pace and with your consent.

As a survivor of complex trauma who has also spent time on the client side of therapy, I deeply understand what it is like to seek support and healing. My hope is that, together, we can gently explore your experiences, work through the impact of trauma, and move toward the healing, freedom, and wholeness you desire.
