Bio: My name is Clem and I am an Asian Canadian of Chinese descent, originally from Toronto but have called BC home since 1998. My journey in the healing professions began 20 years ago in Victoria, BC, where I studied Shiatsu and other Eastern healing traditions. Since then, I have developed a personal therapeutic style that incorporates social justice, compassion, and a holistic view of the individual. My counselling approach is a blend of various modalities, but I primarily take a Person-Centered approach that is based in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy (a mind-body approach), and Attachment Theory. I have also worked extensively with survivors of trauma and clients living with chronic illnesses, drawing on Narrative Therapy, Existential Therapy, and CBT. Aside from my clinical practice, I have worked as a therapist at the Dr. Peter Centre in Vancouver, renowned worldwide for its HIV care services. This role has been instrumental in cultivating my expertise in harm reduction, cultural competence, and social justice. Additionally, I have served as an educator and consultant, supporting frontline healthcare organizations across Canada in implementing trauma-informed practices and harm-reduction strategies. Recently, I have been dedicating my efforts to advocating for drug policy reform and promoting decolonization of the healthcare system.
