Feeding Mama

Bio: Mother and settler entrepreneur leading the Feeding Mama Team, Mona descends from a Chinese and Portuguese lineage, born in Malaysia on the territories of the Rungus People and then later growing up on the lands of the ʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and sel̓íl̓witulh (Tsleil-Waututh), referred to as Vancouver.

A former Project Manager in software dabbling in filmmaking on the side, her priorities shifted after the birth of her twins. To have viscerally experienced the power of healing through food and connecting to community care in new ways, she then focused her attention to addressing this much-needed (and lacking) resource for families around her through founding Feeding Mama. Running a business on stolen land, Mona and Feeding Mama centers Indigenous communities through financial giving to Vancouver-based organizations that support Indigenous families; our business and community currently support the ekwi7tl doula collective.

Here to honor and lovingly share the deep nourishment of TCM postpartum replenishment, Mona enhances all pathways of parenthood. Recognizing not all birthing parents are “mamas” and not all parents (including mamas) give birth to their babies –– because some birthing parents are papas, babas or dads, and many parents adopt their babies — Mona is here to support every parent.

Through her firsthand experience of Zuò Yuè Zi 坐月子 postpartum completed with her mother who had practiced the same, she came to understand the power of a holistic recovery impacted more than only her physical body.
