Bio: As an individual and family counsellor/therapist, I work alongside youth and adult clients to explore mental health challenges, life transitions, neurodivergence, couple and family relationships, and alleviating the impact of oppressive social structures on mental wellbeing. In sessions with me, we will get curious about your values, beliefs and unique human experience. I will support you in identifying your strengths, fostering self-acceptance and self-compassion as you navigate life’s transitions and challenges. Together, we will explore the underlying emotions and/or unmet needs that impact your wellbeing and collaborate to challenge the beliefs and behaviours that may no longer be conducive to your growth. We will collaboratively identify more helpful strategies that meet your needs and honour your present self. Many of the clients who work with me are racialized adults, formally diagnosed or self-identified neurodivergent youth and adults; and family members, caregivers, and/or loved ones of neurodivergent individuals. I have a particular interest in supporting folks who are seeking a deeper understanding of the impact of their environment and their intersecting identities and experiences on their wellbeing and sense of self. I am passionate about supporting clients to challenge individualistic understandings of healing that may be contributing to their isolation, and explore ways to build and access safe community spaces that nurture their healing and wellbeing My method is integrative and incorporates elements of dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), solution-focused therapy, emotionally-focused therapy and attachment theories; specifically tailored to meet each individual client’s values, needs, and strengths. My work is grounded in social justice and culturally-affirming perspectives and takes a person-in-environment approach. I am a first-generation immigrant settler. I have worked in the social work field in various capacities for eight years, supporting parents, youth and families in navigating social systems and exploring their psycho-social-spiritual needs. I provide services in English and Arabic for individuals and families located on the stolen ancestral, traditional lands of the Indigenous Peoples of Turtle Island in the provinces colonially known as British Columbia and Ontario.
