My own identity as an Asian-Canadian and second-generation immigrant has influenced my approach to mental health. Specifically, I am drawn to exploring the struggles and pain that stem from intergenerational conflicts and loss of cultural identity. I aim to create a space where clients can reflect on how their roots inform their present, while also making room for new ways of being and belonging
I also bring a storied background working in sport, including my 9+ years of experience as a wrestling coach for an elite team of youth and university wrestlers, and consultant for Canadian Women in Sport. This has shaped my interest in supporting high performance, achievement-oriented individuals. I help clients develop mental performance skills to be able to excel in high pressure, performance environments. I have worked with athletes across multiple sports, including at the provincial and national, and Team Canada levels.
In our sessions, you can expect a compassionate, empathetic and collaborative clinician who creates a safe space for you to grow and heal. I believe in fostering a strengths-based and culturally-aware approach that meets you where you are at, and draws upon your unique strengths. Together in our work, we can uncover new insights that can lead to growth, resilience and well-being. I am deeply committed to building a safe, non-judgemental, and trusting therapy relationship that enables you to embrace your full self and feel empowered in the pursuit of your goals.
When I’m not seeing clients, I can often be found coaching wrestling, watching live musicals, reading memoirs, or using cooking as a creative outlet.
